Every feature in detail
Auto-versioning, project sections, client share portals, annotations, approval workflow — the complete breakdown of what SaveITT does and how it works.
SaveITT is file management software for designers (also called digital asset management for designers, or design version control). It belongs in the same category as Filecamp, Ziflow, Filestage, and Frame.io — but is purpose-built for freelance and small-studio design workflows rather than enterprise marketing teams or video production.
How SaveITT works
- 1
Create a project
Open SaveITT and create a new project. Every project comes with three default sections: Concepts, Revisions, and Final Files. Add custom sections for your workflow.
- 2
Drop files in
Drag any file into any section. PSD, AI, PDF, PNG, MOV, Figma exports — no format restrictions, no size limits up to 5 GB per file.
- 3
Auto-versioning happens
Upload a file with the same name as an existing one and SaveITT automatically creates v2, v3, v4. Different filenames get their own row. You never rename files manually.
- 4
Share with the client
Generate a share link. This opens a clean, read-only client portal. No login required. Clients preview files inline, leave pinned annotations on images, and write feedback.
- 5
Client approves
The client taps Approve on a file. The version is stamped final, the designer gets notified, and the approved version is locked in the project history.
Auto-versioning by filename
Upload a file with the same name as an existing one and SaveITT automatically creates v2, v3, v4. No manual renaming. No more "logo_FINAL_v2_revised.psd".
- Same filename uploaded again becomes the next version automatically (v1 → v2 → v3).
- Different filenames get their own row — versioning never merges unrelated files.
- Every version keeps its own timestamp, file size, uploader name, and original metadata.
- Roll back to any previous version with one click — old versions are never overwritten.
- Free plan keeps the last 3 versions per file. Pro and above keep full history.
Project sections (Concepts, Revisions, Finals)
Every project comes with three default sections that mirror how design work actually moves: Concepts, Revisions, and Final Files. Add custom sections for any workflow.
- Default sections: Concepts, Revisions, Final Files — created on every new project.
- Custom sections: add as many as you need (e.g. "Brand Guidelines", "Social Assets", "Client Feedback").
- Section types: file sections, text notes, color palette sections, font library sections.
- Each section can be toggled on or off in the client share portal independently.
- Drag to reorder sections. Sections persist across projects via templates (Pro and above).
File annotations
Clients click a spot on an image and leave a pinned comment. Multiple annotations per file. Replaces the "the logo in the top right needs to be bigger" email back-and-forth.
- Pin comments to exact pixel coordinates on any image (PNG, JPG, WEBP, PDF page).
- Each annotation shows author name and date.
- Threaded replies on each annotation pin.
- Resolve annotations to mark them addressed — they stay in history but collapse from the active view.
- Email notifications when new annotations land on your project.
File approval workflow
Clients tap "Approve" on a file and the version is stamped final. The designer gets notified. The approved version is locked and clearly marked.
- One-click approve or request-changes per file.
- Approved files get a visible "Final" badge.
- Email notification to the designer the moment a file is approved.
- Request changes includes a free-text note explaining what needs to change.
- Project-level approval: approve the entire project as a single deliverable bundle.
- Approval history kept per file — see who approved, when, on which version.
Any file type, any size
PSD, AI, PDF, PNG, JPG, SVG, WEBP, MOV, MP4, Figma exports, Sketch, ZIP. No format restrictions. No 5 MB upload limit like Notion.
- Native preview for images (PNG, JPG, WEBP, SVG, GIF) and PDFs — no download needed.
- Source file uploads (PSD, AI, Sketch, Figma exports) stored as-is for client download.
- Video preview for MP4 and MOV up to 500 MB per file.
- Up to 5 GB per file on Free, larger on paid plans.
- Bulk upload up to 100 files at once via drag-and-drop.
Bulk download as ZIP
Clients download all files in a project, or all files in one section, as a single ZIP archive. Or grab individual files.
- Download the entire project as one ZIP, preserving section folder structure.
- Download a single section as ZIP.
- Individual file downloads always available.
- Download permissions togglable per project (read-only-preview vs full-download).
File request links
Generate a dedicated upload link and send it to clients. They drop files in without seeing your project. Useful for collecting brand assets, source materials, and content.
- Each request link uploads into a specific project section you choose.
- Clients see an upload-only page — no view of your project files.
- Email notification when a client uploads files.
- Set a file size cap per request link.
- Disable or regenerate request links at any time.
Project milestones and timeline
Projects have an optional timeline with named milestones. Each milestone has a title, due date, and completion status. Visible to clients (if you choose) so they see progress.
- Add milestones with title, optional due date, and status (Planned, In Progress, Complete).
- Timeline toggleable per share portal — show or hide from client view.
- Email reminders for upcoming milestone due dates.
- Project notes section for additional context alongside the timeline.
Security and data protection
Files encrypted at rest (AES-256) and in transit (TLS 1.3). Daily backups with 30-day point-in-time restore. SOC 2 Type II audit in progress.

Frequently asked questions
How does SaveITT auto-versioning work?
When you upload a file with the same name as an existing one, SaveITT automatically increments the version number. Upload "hero-banner.png" three times and you get v1, v2, v3 — each with its own timestamp and the ability to download any previous version. Different filenames get their own row. You never rename files manually.
What file types does SaveITT support?
Any file type. PSD, AI, PDF, PNG, JPG, SVG, WEBP, MOV, MP4, Figma exports, Sketch files, ZIP archives. There are no format restrictions. Images and PDFs preview inline without download. Source files are stored as-is for client download.
Can clients review files without an account?
Yes. Each project gets a share link that opens a clean, read-only portal. Clients can preview files, leave pinned annotations, write feedback, and approve deliverables — all without creating an account or logging in. The portal works on any device.
How does the approval workflow work?
On the client share portal, each file shows an "Approve" and "Request changes" button. When a client taps Approve, the file version is stamped as final, the designer gets an email notification, and the version is locked. Request changes includes a note field explaining what needs to change.
Can I add my own branding to client portals?
Yes, on Team and Enterprise plans. Your studio logo replaces the SaveITT logo, your accent color replaces the SaveITT green, and Enterprise plans support custom domains (e.g. files.yourstudio.com).
How big can files be on SaveITT?
Up to 5 GB per file on the Free plan, larger on paid plans. Total storage is 5 GB on Free, 50 GB on Pro, 200 GB on Team, and 1 TB+ on Enterprise. Bulk upload supports up to 100 files at once via drag-and-drop.
Are files secure on SaveITT?
Yes. Files are encrypted at rest with AES-256 and in transit with TLS 1.3. Daily backups with 30-day point-in-time restore. SAML SSO, audit logs, and EU or US data residency are available on Enterprise. A SOC 2 Type II audit is in progress.
Can I export my files from SaveITT?
Yes. You can download individual files, entire sections, or full projects as ZIP archives at any time. Your right to export is not tied to your billing status.
